Most garment factories in Ashulia resumed operations on Saturday, although around 49 factories remain closed as discussions between workers and factory owners continue.

Out of the 49, 36 factories have been shut down indefinitely under the 'no work, no pay' clause in labor law, while 13 factories have declared general holidays.

Md Sarwar Alam, superintendent of Ashulia Industrial Police-1, confirmed the updates.

"Among the closed factories, the majority are garment factories, though some pharmaceutical and footwear manufacturing plants are also impacted," he noted.

He mentioned that there are 1,863 factories in the Ashulia industrial zone, mostly garment factories, and the situation today is notably calmer compared to recent days.

"No labour protests occurred today, and workers did not take to the streets," he added.
