Police arrested four people connection with murder to a television journalist over dispute related to the construction of a house and distribution of flats at the Rampura Mohanagar Project in the capital.
The arrestees were identified as Md Abdul Latif, 46, Md Qurban Ali, 24, Mahin, 18, Mozammel Haque Kabir, 52, and Bandhan, 20.
On Friday (Oct 11) in a press conference in this regard was organized at the DMP's media center on Minto Road in the capital.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC) Tejgaon Division Ruhul Kabir Khan disclosed the matter while talking at the conference.
Four suspects were apprehended on the spot shortly after the incident on 10 October, while Bandhan was arrested early Friday morning from the Malibagh area in Dhaka, he said.
The incident occurred around 10:30am on 10 October, at a building under construction on plots 79, 80, and 81, Road 04, Block D of the Rampura Mohanagar Project.
An altercation broke out between the landowners, a developer company and several other stakeholders, over disputes related to the distribution of flats.
The landowners had signed an agreement with a developer company, Pleasant Properties (Pvt.) Ltd., to construct a building on their property. However, disagreements over the handover of flats had caused ongoing tension between the landowners and the developer. On 10 October, the conflict escalated into a violent confrontation, during which one of the parties, Tanzil Jahan Islam Tamim, 33, was severely injured. Tamim was rushed to Monowara Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by doctors.
Following the incident, Hatirjheel Police conducted an inspection of the scene and registered a murder case against 16 named and 11-12 unidentified individuals. Among them, the five arrestees are now in custody and have been sent to court with a remand application for further investigation.
