Journalist hacked to death in Mymensingh

A journalist was hacked to death in the district town on Saturday (Oct 12).

The deceased was Shapon Bhadra, 68, hailed from Shambhuganj Majipara in the town. He was the Vice President of Tarakanda Press Club.

Police arrested a youth namely Sagor, 20, from Goiripur Upazila in the district in connection with the murder.

The incident occurred in Raghurampur Tanpara area in the town when he was reading a newspaper. Sagor allegedly hacked journalist Shapon with a sharper weapon to death over previous enmity.

He was brought to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Thana Shafiqul Islam confirmed.
