Govt plans Interpol red notice for Hasina, other fugitives

Law Adviser Asif Nazrul said all necessary steps will be taken to bring back fugitive suspects, including Sheikh Hasina, in connection with the July-August Genocide case filed with the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT).

He at this time Law Adviser highlighted that a red notice will be issued through Interpol to ensure that all fugitives face trial.

Asif Nazrul shared this information with journalists on Sunday (Nov 10) after inspecting ongoing renovation work at the ICT.

Commenting on a recent petition submitted by the Awami League to the International Criminal Court (ICC), he said, "The Awami League has filed baseless charges against the government in an attempt to tarnish the country’s image, which the government is not taking seriously."

He further said that the petition is not an official case but rather a submission to the ICC’s prosecution office, something that any individual can do.

“A red notice will be issued soon via Interpol. No matter where the fugitive fascist group is, they will be brought back to face justice,” he added.
