Five-member committee formed to select ACC chairman

A five-member selection committee has been formed to recommend candidates for the positions of Chairman and Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). 

Headed by Justice Md. Rezaul Haque, an Appellate Division judge of the Bangladesh Supreme Court, the committee was announced through a gazette notification by the Cabinet Division on Sunday (Nov10).

According to the notification, the selection committee was constituted under Section 7 of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004, to propose candidates for these roles. Justice Md. Rezaul Haque will lead the committee, with additional members including Justice Farah Mahbub of the High Court Division, Comptroller and Auditor General Md. Nurul Islam, Bangladesh Public Service Commission Chairman Prof. Dr. Mobasher Monem, and retired Cabinet Secretary Md. Mahbub Hossain.

The committee will create a shortlist of two candidates per vacancy, based on the consensus of at least three members, to recommend to the President under Section 6 of the ACC Act. 

The committee requires at least four members to proceed with recommendations, and the Cabinet Division will provide necessary secretarial support. 

This order takes immediate effect, read the notification.
