Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today (Nov 11) inaugurated a dedicated lounge for migrant workers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Terming migrant workers as "nation builders," Professor Yunus acknowledged their significant contribution, particularly highlighting their role in the July-August mass uprising.
"We will always be grateful to them," he said expressing hope that the new lounge would ease their travel experience.
Named the Probashi Lounge, this facility is the first of its kind at the airport, providing Bangladeshi migrant workers a place to rest and access to subsidized food and refreshments.
Law adviser Asif Nazrul along with senior officials from the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) attended the inauguration ceremony.
During the event, Nazrul commended the sacrifices of Bangladeshi migrant workers and the broader diaspora for their continued support of their homeland.
Fathima Nusrath Ghazzali, the IOM's deputy chief in Bangladesh, said that the UN agency funded the lounge to assist migrant workers.
IOM has also provided nearly 100 volunteers to assist migrants at the airport, she added.
