A group of miscreants reportedly carried out an attack at a Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) base in Cox’s Bazar.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Monday (February 24).
The incident happened at the air force base in Kutubdiapara of Cox’s Bazar town around noon.
The deceased was identified as 30-year-old Shihab Kabir.
According to an ISPR press release, a group of miscreants from the nearby Samiti Para area launched an unexpected attack on the base. In response, the Bangladesh Air Force took necessary action.
Meanwhile, some local residents claimed that a clash had taken place in the area, resulting in gunfire that killed Shihab Kabir.
Shihab was the son of Nasir Uddin, a former superintendent of PTI from Samiti Para in the municipal area. He was a businessman by profession.
Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Salah Uddin said that one person had died in the hospital, and several others were injured in the incident.
Authorities are discussing with both sides to understand how the situation started, he said, adding an investigation is ongoing.
