One person died following Bangladesh Air Force F-7 BGI training aircraft crashed near Milestone College in the capital’s Uttara area on Monday (July 21).
Duty officer Khaleda Yasmin from the Air Force Headquarters’ control room confirmed the matter.
She said, “One body has been recovered following the aircraft crash. Fire Service and Civil Defence teams are continuing rescue operations.”
Lima Khanam, duty officer at the Fire Service control room, earlier stated that they received information at 1:18pm about the crash. “The aircraft crashed on the Milestone College campus in Uttara. Eight of our units are currently at the scene,” she said.
Following the crash, videos circulated widely on social media showing people running in panic around the area, moments after the incident.
Authorities have not yet released further details about the victim or the cause of the crash. Rescue and investigation efforts are ongoing.
