Combined patrolling will begin in Dhaka and key areas across the country from Monday (February 24) evening to strengthen law enforcement, said Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Shafiqul Alam.
He made the announcement after a core committee meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs, chaired by the Adviser for Home Affairs.
Shafiqul Alam said the combined patrolling will involve police, army, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), navy and other security forces.
When asked whether the combined patrolling would only be in Dhaka or nationwide, he said it would start in Dhaka first and gradually expand across the country.
On whether the government is concerned about the law and order situation, he said the government is taking the matter seriously, which is why such a high-level meeting was held.
Regarding the recent incidents in Cox’s Bazar, he said reports have been requested from the Superintendent of Police and security agencies in the district.
