Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, continues to grapple with poor air quality, securing the ninth spot on the global pollution index.
According to the latest data from IQAir, a Switzerland-based air quality monitoring organization, the city’s air quality score stands at 152 on the Air Quality Index (AQI), categorizing it as "unhealthy" as of 9 am today (April 5).
Kathmandu in Nepal leads the list with a score of 211, falling under the "very unhealthy" category, followed by Delhi, India (179), and Wuhan, China (171), ranking second and third, respectively.
IQAir's scale categorizes air quality as follows: scores between 0-50 are considered "good," 51-100 "moderate," 101-150 "unhealthy for sensitive groups," 151-200 "unhealthy," 201-300 "very unhealthy," and anything above 301 is deemed "risky."
As Dhaka's air quality remains in the unhealthy range, it continues to pose significant health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups including children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing health conditions.
