A total of 44 people, including a leader of the banned student organization Chhatra League, have been arrested in a 24-hour drive in Chattogram city.
The information was confirmed in a press release issued by Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) on Monday (April 7).
According to the release, the arrested individuals are accused in one or more cases filed under the Special Powers Act, Anti-Terrorism Act, and sections of the Penal Code.
They are also allegedly involved in attacks on students and the public during recent anti-discrimination student protests.
