Two people were killed and another injured in a collision between a passenger bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Trishal upazila of Mymensingh on Thursday night (April 10).

The accident happened around 8:00pm in the Birrampur area on the Trishal-Balipara road.

Trishal Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Mansur Ahmed confirmed the matter.

The deceased have been identified as Anufa Begum, 21, and an unidentified man. Both were residents of Baninda village in Gouripur upazila.

According to police, the Dhaka-bound passenger bus from Tarail in Kishoreganj collided head-on with the auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction, leaving two passengers of the auto-rickshaw dead on the spot.

Locals rescued the injured auto-rickshaw driver and sent him to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

Police recovered the bus, but the driver managed to flee the scene. Legal procedures over the incident are underway.
