Members of Police recovered the body of a college student from a girls’ hostel in Hajipara area of Thakurgaon municipality on Friday (April 11) morning.

The deceased was identified as Labiba Astha, 17, a first-year student at Thakurgaon Government College. She was the daughter of the late Fazlur Rahman from Duodosh union in Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon.

According to locals, Labiba had been living at Arpita Girls’ Hostel in Hajipara. Her body was found hanging, but the exact cause of death is yet to be determined. Family members said they were unaware of any reason behind her death.

Thakurgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahidur Rahman said the body was sent to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Legal steps will be taken based on the postmortem report, he added.
