Housewife killed in capital

DHAKA: A housewife was allegedly killed by her husband in the city’s Rayerbagh area under Kadamtali thana Tuesday night following a family feud.

The deceased was identified as Shahana Akhter, 18, wife of Noor Alam, owner of a restaurant. The couple used to live in a rental house at Khanka Sharif road.

Police arrested Noor Alam in connection with the killing.   

Kadamtali thana operation officer Azam Faruquee said neighbors found Shahana lying in her bedroom unconscious in the evening and informed her brother.

Shahana’s brother Meraj first rushed her to a local clinic. Later, she was taken to Dhaka Medical Collage Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared her dead at about 9pm, he said.

Victim’s family members accused Alam of killing Shahana as he used to torture her over trifling matter.

A case was filed with Kadamtali police station in this connection.
