A young Bangladeshi worker from Sylhet died in a workplace accident in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia early Friday (April 18).

The accident occurred around 4:00am local time while he was working at a multi-storey building, according to his family.

Md Nazrul Islam, 24, was from Murargao village in South Ranikhai Union under Companiganj upazila of Sylhet. His father, Nizam Uddin, confirmed the matter to journalists.

He said Nazrul fell from a height while working and died on the spot. “A metal rod pierced his body during the fall,” the grieving father said.

Family members said efforts are underway to bring back his body to Bangladesh for burial.
