A woman named was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband during a domestic dispute in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram late Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Seema Akhter, 26.

The incident took place in South Mahmudabad area under Barabkunda union. 

According to police and locals, Seema and her husband Mahmudul Haque, son of Ahmad Shafi from the same area, often argued. Around 11:00pm, an argument broke out, and at one point Mahmudul allegedly stabbed Seema in the abdomen and fled the scene.

Hearing the news, Seema’s father Md Ayub and other family members rushed to the house. She was taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital in critical condition, where she died around 3:00am while undergoing treatment.

Sitakunda Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Mojibur Rahman confirmed the matter.

A drive is underway to arrest Mahmudul Haque, he said.
