A Dhaka court today (May 17) placed three individuals on a six-day remand each in connection with the murder of Shahriar Alam Shammo, a Dhaka University student and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leader.
Metropolitan Magistrate Shahin Reza passed the order after police sought a 10-day remand.
However, no defence lawyers were present during the hearing.
The accused—Tamim Hawlader, Palash Sardar, and Samrat Mallik—were arrested from different areas in the capital on May 14.
Shammo, a student of DU’s Institute of Education and Research and publication secretary of Chhatra Dal’s AF Rahman Hall unit, was fatally stabbed near Suhrawardy Udyan early on May 14.
Later, his brother filed a murder case with Shahbagh Police.
