A Narayanganj court has rejected the bail petitions of former Narayanganj City Corporation mayor Dr Selina Hayat Ivy in two murder cases filed over the July movement.
The order was passed on Wednesday (May 21) by Senior Judicial Magistrate Ali Haider.
Court police inspector Md Kaiyum Khan said Ivy’s lawyers had sought bail in two of the three cases filed against her, but the court denied both petitions.
In the third case, the court fixed next Sunday (May 25) for hearing on police’s seven-day remand prayer for interrogating Ivy. The court also set May 27 for the bail hearing in that case.
Earlier on May 5, Ivy was sent to jail after being arrested and produced before the court in a case over the killing of Minarul in Siddhirganj.
On May 17, the court allowed police to show her arrested in two more murder cases linked to anti-discrimination protests in Narayanganj.
