A young man died in a landslide early Wednesday in the Pannershara Forest Office area of South Mithachhari union under Ramu upazila in Cox’s Bazar.

The deceased Sirajul Haque, 28, was also known as Guru. He was the son of Mohammad Kalu from Chailyatali area of South Mithachhari.

The incident happened around dawn while he was working near the hill during rainfall, said Ramu Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Rashedul Islam.

Due to heavy rainfall since Tuesday afternoon, continued to Wednesday, soil from the hill suddenly collapsed and buried him.

South Mithachhari Union Parishad Chairperson Khodeshta Begum Reena said locals rescued him from the debris and took him to the hospital, but he died on the way.
