Mymensingh ASP suspended over wife’s allegation

Former Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Mymensingh Range, SM Asif Al Hasan, has been temporarily suspended following a case filed by his wife under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.

SM Asif is now currently attached to the Police Headquarters.

The Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs recently issued a notification confirming his suspension.

According to the order signed by Senior Secretary Nasimul Gani, Asif's wife filed the case at Dhaka’s Shahjahanpur Police Station on January 1. He was later granted bail by the High Court Division on January 19 and by the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-5 on February 16.

As per BSR Part-1, Rule 73 (Note 2), any official is considered suspended from the date of arrest or detention. Additionally, the Ministry of Public Administration considers officials on bail as ‘taken into custody’.

Based on Section 39(2) of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018, Asif has been suspended from January 19. During the suspension period, he will receive subsistence allowance as per government rules.
