Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed an indefinite ban on all types of public gatherings, rallies, processions, and demonstrations in key areas of the capital, effective from 6:00 am on Sunday (June 22).
According to a public notice issued on Saturday, the restriction will cover areas surrounding Shishu Mela under Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) office, the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) office, and Agargaon Road.
The DMP said the ban is being enforced to ensure public safety and maintain law and order.
The directive, signed by DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali, was issued under the powers vested in Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance, 1976 (Ordinance No. III of 1976).
The notice does not mention a specific end date for the restriction, indicating it will remain in effect until further notice.
