The Election Commission (EC), led by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin, has decided not to use Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in upcoming local government elections.
The decision was made through the newly issued Polling Station Setup and Management Policy 2025, which the EC gazetted on June 26 and officially published on Thursday (July 3).
Unlike the 2023 policy, which included provisions for separate booths for EVM voting, the 2025 policy omits all such clauses. As a result, there will be no EVM facilities at any polling stations in the next local government elections.
