Three people, including a woman, were beaten to death by a mob in Muradnagar upazila of Cumilla on Thursday morning (July 3) over suspicion of being involved in drug dealing.

The incident occurred in Koibari village, according to local police.

The deceased have been identified as Robin, Ruby, and Russell — all residents of the upazila.

Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bangra Bazar Police Station Mahfuzur Rahman confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

He said, “The bodies have been recovered, and we are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the killings.”

Police have launched an investigation, he added. 

Law enforcement officials are also looking into whether the victims had any criminal background or if the killings were based on rumor or misinformation.

However, no arrests had been made as of Thursday afternoon.
