The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, while other regions may experience light to moderate showers.
According to a bulletin issued on Wednesday (July 23), the monsoon trough stretches across Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and central Bangladesh to Assam, with an extension reaching the North Bay. The monsoon is currently active over Bangladesh and moderately active over the North Bay, where a low-pressure system may form within 24 hours.
The forecast until Thursday morning indicates that many areas in Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, and some areas in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barishal may experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds. Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely in Chattogram and Sylhet.
Day temperatures across the country are expected to remain nearly unchanged, while night temperatures may drop slightly.
For the 24-hour period from Thursday morning, most parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet may experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds. Some areas may see heavy to very heavy rainfall.
Rainfall activity is likely to persist over the next few days. Friday through Sunday forecasts show continued rainfall across most regions, especially in Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet.
Day and night temperatures may see a slight decrease during this period.
