The government has promoted seven police officers of deputy inspector general (DIG) rank to the position of additional inspector general of police (IGP).
The order, issued in the public interest, will take immediate effect.
The promoted officials are DIG of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) Md Ali Hossain Fakir, DIG of the Special Branch (SB) GM Azizur Rahman, Additional Police Commissioner (DIG) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md Sarwar, DIG of the Armed Police Battalion Md Mostafa Kamal, DIG of Police Headquarters Kazi Md Fazlul Karim, DIG of Highway Police Md Rezaul Karim, and DIG of Chattogram Range Md Ahsan Habib Palash.
The Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs confirmed the matter through a notification on Monday (August 11).
According to gazette following all formalities mentioned in letters from the Ministry of Public Administration and the Expenditure Management-5 Branch of the Finance Division, these officials were promoted against seven newly created supernumerary posts.
It further said that if any of these posts become vacant due to promotion, retirement, removal or any other reason, they will be abolished automatically. The tenure of the seven supernumerary posts will be one year from the date of creation. The promoted officers will continue to serve in their current positions.
