DHAKA: A female cleaner was killed in a road accident near Bangla Academy of Dhaka University campus on Tuesday morning.

Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) sources said that they found two different identity cards with the deceased.

One of the cards identifies the dead as Amiron, a cleaner of Dhaka City Corporation, while the other gives her identity as Rupchan Begum, a cleaner of Rokeya Hall.

“But both ID cards bear the photographs of the same person,” said a DMCH source.

ASI Wahab of Shahbag thana told banglanews24.com.bd, “A speeding microbus ran over the woman at about 8:15am while she was working on the road in-between Bangla Academy and Ramna Kali Mandir.”

The driver fled the scene with the vehicle right away.

Some of the morning-walkers rushed her to DMCH where the duty doctor declared her dead at about 9am, ASI Wahab added.

The body was kept in the DMCH morgue for autopsy.
