KISHOREGANJ: Two people remained missing as a mechanized boat capsized in Dubir haor in Mithamoin upazila on Monday night.

Police said the trawler, with 43 passengers, was heading towards Mithamoin bazar from Karimganj Chamra Bandar at night. But, in the midway, it was caught in a strong wind and sank.  All but two passengers managed to swim ashore.

Mithamoin thana OC Jahangir Alam and SI Samarendra Dutta visited the spot. They said the missing people could not be spotted “even after a hectic search”.

Rescue operation is being hampered due to inclement weather, they added.
