A-level student rescued, kidnapers arrested

DHAKA: Mohammadpur thana police arrested two kidnapers and rescued an abducted student from Goalondo on Thursday.

Police said Sheikh Niaz Noor Niloy, 18, an A-level student of St. Xaviers Green Herald School and College of Mohammadpur was abducted on Wednesday on his way to school.

Mohammad Sheikh, father of Niloy told banglanews24.com.bd that the abductors demanded Tk 50 lakh as ransom from him.

“Jahangir, one of the kidnappers used to work as a security guard in our house. Jahangir along with our chauffeur kidnapped Niloy,” he said.

Officer-in-Charge of Mohammadpur thana Mainul Abser told banglanews24.com.bd that the miscreants were on their way to Satkhira after the abduction.

“They were crossing the Jamuna river on a ferry and the commoners rescued Niloy as he screamed for help,” he added.

Niloy was later handed over to Goalondo police along with the kidnapers.

Two toy pistols were recovered from their possessions.

Police were now interrogating the kidnappers.
