CHITTAGONG: Chittagong University students Sunday morning staged demonstration in protest against the recent tuition-fee hike and demanding withdrawal of punishment against some students.

But, police held two students, chased them to disperse the gathering and cordoned off the whole station area to avert any trouble. But, the agitating students staged demonstration in police presence.

Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police Bonaj Kumar Majumder confirmed the detention of two students.

The demonstrating students Saturday laid a siege to the Administrative Building of the varsity in the same demand.

Earlier in a press meet on July 29, the students announced an indefinite strike halting academic and administrative activities on the campus.
Meanwhile, the university authorities in a meeting on July 26 expelled a student for two years and issued show-cause notices to five others on charge of assaulting two teachers during the agitation.
