NARSINGDI: Five people, three of them members of a family, were killed as a recklessly running truck rammed into a tempo on the Dhaka-Monohordi highway at Kumradi in Shibpur upazila on Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as Bedon Mia, 45, his wife Zahura Begum, 30, and their one-and-a-half-year-old baby girl Sadia, Siraj Mia, 30, and tempo-driver Razu, 30.

Police and witnesses told Banglanews24.com.bd that the accident occurred at about 6am when a truck collided head-on with a passenger tempo.

“All the four passengers of the tempo were killed instantly while its driver was injured fatally in the accident,” says a spot account of the violent collision.

The driver of the three-wheeler, Raju, later died on way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

On information, police rushed to the spot but couldn’t catch the killer truck. They sent the bodies to Sadar hospital morgue.
