Robbers loot Tk 10 lakh from cattle traders in Sirajganj

SIRAJGANJ: Highway robbers looted Tk 10 lakh from five cattle traders on Sirajganj-Hatikumrul-Bonpara road early Wednesday.
 
The traders said the traders in a truck were going back home in Rajshahi after selling cattle-heads at Gabtoli haat in the capital.

As the truck reached at Hatikumrul crossing under Salanga Thana, some 8/10 robbers got into the truck in the guise of passengers, they added.  

At one stage, they beat up the cow traders with hammers and looted Tk 10 lakh from them, they added.

Later, the robbers threw them from the truck in Khalkula area of Tarash upazila and fled the spot with the truck.

Local people rescued the injured traders and sent them home after giving treatment.

The injured traders are Abdul Hamid, 40, Ashraful Islam, 27, Hasan Ali, 35, Mohammad Chhaijabul Islam, 30, and Anwar Hossain, 42.

Officer-in-charge of Tarash police station Mohammad Ataur Rahman said he heard about the incident but, nobody came to register any complaint.
