DHAKA: Election Commissioner M Shahnewaz said that the national election would be held within January 24 of next year.

He came up with the disclosure while talking to journalists at election commission secretariat in Sher-e-bangla Nagar of the capital on Sunday noon.

M Shahnewaz said: “If political parties want, EC can take initiative steps of negotiations for the sake of fair election.”

In reply to a query, he added, “Possible date of election is not fixed yet, but the election will be held within October 27, 2013 to January 24 of 2014.”
