DHAKA: Law enforcers arrested six persons for their alleged involvement in the killing of Dhobaura upazila chairman Furkan Uddin Selim Mridha alias Pahari Selim, 45, also general secretary of upazila Awami League.

In separate drives, police held them from different areas of the upazila early Monday.

Officer-in-Charge of Dhobaura Thana Omar Faruk confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police personnel are raiding various areas of the upazila.

Police is yet to file a case in this connection.

On Sunday, supporters of Selim and Azizul violated section 144 and locked into clash, leaving at least 50 injured from both sides and chairman Selim injured critically.

Later, he died under treatment in Mymensingh Medical College Hospital Sunday night.
