Dhaka: International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 issued a show-cause notice to New York based Human Rights Watch (HRW).
The Tribunal asked HRW to explain within three weeks about why it should not bring allegation of ‘contempt of court’ against it for making comment over verdict and war crimes trial against Ghulam Azam.
A 3-member tribunal led by Justice ATM Fazle Kabir passed the order on Monday when the prosecution presented the accusation to the tribunal.
On August 16, Human Rights Watch, one of the world’s leading independent organizations dedicated to defending and protecting human rights, has published a report saying that: “The trial of Ghulam Azam, the former chief of Bangladesh’s Jamaat-e-Islaami (Jamaat) party, at Bangladesh’s International Crimes Tribunal was deeply flawed and did not meet international fair trial standards.”
