DHAKA: The government has taken a decision to provide national identity card to any Bangladeshi people under 18-year old.
The decision came from a regular cabinet meeting held at the Secretariat with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
The cabinet gave the final approval the ‘National Identity Registration (Amendment) Act -2013’.
After the meeting, cabinet secretary Mosharraf Hosain Bhuiyan made the disclosure while talking to journalists.
He said, “The people of the country, who are not enlisted in the voter list, will also get national identity card.”
Earlier, the people under 18-year old could not get the national identity card.
Besides, one voter can extend national identity card validity after 6-month as per the new act.
