Bashundhara’s tree plantation begins

FROM BRAHMANBARIA: With a view to keeping environment evergreen and pollution free, country’s leading business conglomerate Bashundhara Group has launched afforestation programme in Bancharampur Upazila of the district.

The programme started with distribution of 3,000 trees among the people of Durgarampur village on Tuesday.

Bashundhara Foundation organized a discussion programme titled ‘Sabuje Sajai Prithibi’ held at its office at Durgarampur village on Tuesday with the help of Bashundhara Cement, a sister concern of Bashundhara Group.

The foundation distributed 3,000 among 860 families and six educational institutes in the first phase.

Chief Marketing Promotion Officer of Bashundhara Group Saiful Islam Helali said: “Bashundhara Group is committed to spread out the tree plantation programme not only in Bancharampur, but also across the world.”

Bancharampur upazila chairman and former joint secretary Sirajul Islam was chief guest at the function.

The programme was attended, among others, by Environment department deputy director Saifullah Talukder, Forest division range officer Abdul Malek, Bashundhara Foundation Manager Mosharraf Hossain.

Allude to Durgarampur is the birth place of Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan.

He established Bashundhara Foundation here in 2005 to develop the life style of the people living at the upazila.
