Teacher killed, student abducted

MEHERPUR: A school teacher was killed in bomb attack and shooting by miscreants and a schoolboy was abducted at Shuvoraj village under Sadar upazila of the district early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Halim, 43, son of Shukur Ali from Shuvoraj village and he served as assistant teacher at Nishchitapur Government Primary School.

The abducted schoolboy is Atiar, 9, son of South Africa emigrant Alif.      

Local Union Parishad member Manjur Rahman Biswash told banglanews that a 15-member gang hurled bombs and shot several round of bullets while teacher Abdul Halim trying to save his student Atiar from abduction.

Miscreants, however, abducted Atiar, leaving Halim died on the spot.

Meherpur Sadar police station Officer-in Charge Riaz Uddin confirmed the matter to banglanews.
