Satkhira: A BDR personnel was killed and another member of the border force injured in a road accident on hot chase against smugglers at Langoljhora in Kolaroa thana on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Saiful Islam, 48.

Witnesses said BDR colleagues Saiful Islam and Abdur Razzak riding a motorbike were chasing a suspected gang of smugglers at around 9 am. Suddenly, their bike slipped and crashed into a tree, leaving both wounded severely.

Local people rushed the two to Kolaroa Sadar Hospital, where the duty doctor declared Saiful dead at about 11am.

“But Abdur Razzak has come out of danger, finally,” a hospital source said.
