DHAKA: Several layers of security measures in capital including the Supreme Court area have been taken from Monday midnight, just before the verdict on appeal against life term to Quader Mollah for his involvement with crimes against humanity.

Along with setting up check posts, roads around the apex court have been closed.

Additional numbers of police forces and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel have been deployed at the important establishments and launch, bus terminals and airports, land ports and rail stations.

Besides, a large number of police forces have been deployed in various areas of the city including the secretariat building, Paltan, Gulshan, Baridhara, Shahbagh, Farmgate, Mirpur, Motijheel areas.

Additional police forces have been deployed in divisional areas including Chittagong, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Rangpur, Khulna and various districts also.

Deputy Police Commissioner of DMP (Sadar) Anwar Hossain told banglanews, “We have taken strict security measures to thwart any untoward situation on the eve of and after the verdict against Quader Mollah.”

On February 4 of 2013, International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 sentences Quader Mollah to life term for his involvement with crimes against humanity during the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971.
