DHAKA: Readymade garment workers went berserk in the capital’s Mohakhali area demanding salary and allowance hike on Monday.
Sources said that hundreds of garments workers locked into sporadic clashes with police from 11:00am to 12:30pm when police tried to disperse them from the road.
Agitated workers vandalized 3-4 vehicles on the road and threw brick-chips to police. After that police charged batons on them to send them back to workplace, leaving five workers injured.
Confirming the matter, Mohakhali Thana Officer-in-Charge Mahbub Hasan said the situation was under control.
