Quader asks AL men to stay vigilant over students' demo

The general secretary of the Awami League (AL), Obaidul Quader today (July 17), has urged party activists to be ready in all wards across the country as student demonstrations continue to escalate.

Quader, also the Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, instructed AL leaders and activists to remain vigilant and maintain a firm presence nationwide.

Obaidul Quader issued this directive during a joint meeting of Dhaka Metropolitan North and South Awami League and Dhaka District Awami League, held at the Dhaka District Awami League office in capital’s Tejgaon.

He said: “Go to your area and make all wards prepared. Even today, they have plans to create violence. This is not just the authority of the police, but also the authority of our party - the force that led the liberation war in Bangladesh, the force that reinstated democracy under the guidance of Sheikh Hasina, the force of the Bangladesh Awami League. We must harness this authority today. Each individual must diligently fulfill their duties."

“On behalf of our leader, I am instructing every leader and worker of Awami League to be vigilant and take a strong stand throughout the country to resist evil forces. No compromise can be made with any evil power. We will not give any concession to those who oppose the spirit of liberation war. We will not give any concession to the anti-independence,” he said.

He said, while talking, “We were surprised to see the headlines of some newspapers: everywhere BCL attacks, but reality is, the BCL girls were kicked out from the hall at midnight.”

“We hope our media will show what really happened. This is what we want, the truth should not be distorted,” he added.
