BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed arrived in Sylhet on Saturday morning for what party sources described as a sudden visit.
Salahuddin Ahmed landed at Osmani International Airport on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight, where senior BNP leaders greeted him.
Those present included BNP Chairperson’s adviser Khondkar Abdul Muktadir, central joint organising secretary Miftah Siddiqi, Sylhet district BNP president Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury, city unit president Koyes Lodi, district general secretary Emran Ahmed Chowdhury and central committee member Abul Kaher Shamim. BNP leaders Kamrul Hasan Chowdhury Shahin and UK BNP leader M. A. Malik were also among the reception party.
The purpose of the trip was not officially disclosed. Party insiders suggested the visit is primarily personal, though informal political discussions or meetings with local leaders were not ruled out.
During his stay, Salahuddin Ahmed may attend personal and social engagements at various locations in Sylhet, according to party sources.
