SATKHIRA: The half day hartal, called by upazila unit Chhatra Dal, is underway in Tala upazila protesting the death of Islamkati union Chhatra Dal president Azharul Isalm in a gunfight with law enforcers.

No picketers were seen on any roads of the upazila till 10:30am.

People were seen busy in their normal tasks and haulage on the roads was normal, reported banglanews correspondent.

Officer-in-Charge of Tala Thana Motiar Rahman told banglanews that police were kept alert to thwart any untoward situation.

Earlier on Monday, a union Chhatra Dal leader was killed in a ‘gunfight’ between combined forces and terrorists in Islamkati union under Tala upazila of the district.
