Ex-Jhenaidah MP Nayeb Ali arrested

Nayeb Ali Joarder, the former lawmaker from Jhenaidah-1 (Shailkupa) elected from the Awami League ticket, was arrested late Thursday night.

A joint operation conducted by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the Army apprehended the ex-lawmaker at his residence in Arappur, Jhenaidah town, around 11:00pm.

Nayeb Ali Joarder, a member of the executive committee of the Awami League's district branch, was arrested in connection with two separate cases related to allegations of looting, vandalizing, and setting fire to the home of BNP Jhenaidah district unit president MA Mazid, as well as the BNP district office on 4 August.

RAB-6 Jhenaidah Camp in-charge Major Naim Ahmed stated that they conducted the raid based on a tip-off at approximately 11:00pm on Thursday.

Nayeb Ali Joarder is the prime accused in the incidents involving the BNP leader’s house and the BNP district office. Two cases have been filed against him at Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station. Authorities are preparing to send him to court following preliminary interrogation.
