A Dhaka court today (September 21) put former Awami League (AL) lawmaker from Kushtia-4 constituency Selim Altaf George on two-day fresh remand in a case filed over killing an auto-rickshaw puller at Mohammapur in the capital city.
Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka Arafatul Rakib passed the order as investigation officer (IO) Altaf Hossain prayed for five-day fresh remand for him upon completion his three-day remand.
Detectives of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Altaf from Dhaka’s Lalmatia area on September 17.
The murder case was filed in connection with death of an auto-rickshaw driver Md Roni on July 19 at Muhammadpur area during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Roni suffered bullet injuries in front of the primary school on Nurjahan road at about 1 PM on that day. Doctors declared him dead after admitting to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College (ShSMC).
A murder case was registered with Mohammadpur Police Station in to this end.
