RU: Chhatra League central committee formed an investigation committee to probe into the matter of Chhatra League’s attack on general students of Rajshahi University (RU).

Vice president of Chhatra League central committee Joydev Nandi was made as chief of the 5-member committee.

The matter was disclosed in a press release on Monday.

Other members of the committee are vice presidents Shahinur Rashid Sohel and Ziaul Haque Zia, joint general secretary Mostafizur Rahman and office secretary Sheikh Rasel.

The committee was ordered to submit reports to the president and general secretary within three days.

Meanwhile, six cases were filed with Motihar Thana in this connection, confirmed the Officer-in-Charge of the thana Abdul Majid.

Of the cases, Chhatra League, university administration and police filed two cases each.

On February 2, at least 100 students were injured when police and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the Awami League, attacked general students brandishing firearms and lethal weapons at the RU campus.

After the shocking incident, authorities of the university held an emergency syndicate meeting and closed the varsity sine die.
