A Dhaka court has sent former railways minister Nurul Islam to jail in a case filed over shooting and killing a person named Rafiqul Islam during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
On completion of his five-day remand in the case, he was produced before the court on Saturday.
Sub-Inspector Mrigank Shekhar Talukder, the investigating officer (IO) of the case, requested the judge to keep him in jail. In view of the application, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehra Mahbub issued the order to send him to jail.
Earlier, police arrested him from Bangladesh Specialised Hospital at Shyamoli in the capital on 16 September in connection with Rafiqul Islam murder case.
The IO of the case applied for his 10-day remand. On 22 September, the court granted his five-day remand.
