A Dhaka court today ordered the attachment of assets belonging to former Member of Parliament (MP) Naimur Rahman Durjoy, including a Lalmatia flat, a three-katha plot, two vehicles, and the freezing of 10 bank accounts and two insurance policies.
The order was passed by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib following a plea by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Assistant Director Tapas Bhattacharya.
Durjoy, a former Awami League lawmaker, is accused of amassing illegal wealth amounting to Taka 11.21 crore.
He allegedly extorted Taka 4.22 crore from Manikganj Power Generation Limited and made suspicious transactions totaling around Taka 94 crore through 22 bank accounts.
The case was filed against Durjoy under multiple sections of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, Prevention of Corruption Act, and the Money Laundering Prevention Act.
