The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today showed former Awami League lawmaker ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury arrested in a case concerning crimes against humanity linked to the July-August mass uprising.
The three-member tribunal led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder passed the order, allowing the prosecution's plea. The court then sent the former lawmaker back to jail.
Fazle Karim faces charges of abetting, inciting, and participating in attacks on students and civilians in Chattogram on July 16, 2020.
Prosecutor Abdullah Al Noman said that Fazle Karim allegedly supplied arms to the attackers, resulting in the deaths of three individuals—Wasim Akram, Faruk, and Foysal Ahmed Shanto—during the assault at Muradpur Mor in Panchlaish.
The identities of other accused individuals in case ICT BD 10/2025 were withheld for security reasons.
The ICT had previously scheduled Chowdhury's appearance for today, February 16, following an order issued on February 5.
