Hasnat Abdullah, chief organiser (southern region) of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has called for a mass rally in front of the Chief Adviser’s residence in Jamuna after Juma prayers today (May 9), demanding a ban on the Awami League.
Addressing an ongoing protest that began around 10:00pm last night in front of Jamuna, Hasnat urged people from all political backgrounds to join the demonstration.
“We suspect the interim government is allowing the fascist Awami League to reorganise,” he said, adding that they expected the government’s first reform to be banning the party as a terrorist organisation.
He vowed not to leave the protest site until the Awami League is declared a terrorist group and its registration revoked.
